The Philosophy of S

Prologue

The philosophy of S - Soul Riding Philosophy, beyond the Human, the Element - is a philosophy that has been taught to me over the last 15 years. It arose essentially from my own life experiences. Time, Man and the Elements show us the true moral values, those that contribute to the bliss of existence. Here are the fundamentals.

The true moral values, that are human virtues, are those that emanate from common sense. The notion of pleasure combined with respect toward our environment and toward our fellow man guides us to a new dimension that is inner peace.

Respect

Feeling that takes to concede a person an admiring consideration, due to the value that we acknowledge him and to behave toward him with reserve and discretion. (Le Petit Robert translated from French)

Chapter I: Raw Elements or first stage

This philosophical focus is represented in the first place by the journey and the Element.

On one hand, traveling permits completing the education and the knowledge of being. The important thing is to travel in spirit; there’s no need to go far away to travel. Learning to be of course encompases enjoying life with others, seeking to meet people, knowing how to listen, loving, giving, tolerating. But above all, it is knowing yourself, the keystone of well-being.

On the other hand, the Element leads us in an offhand manner to the simplicity and the modesty. What is the Element?

It has to do with the Elements, with uppercase E, that it to say the natural elements. The natural elements allow us to experience extraordinary sensations through our five senses, notably with the practice of meditation (or prayer, we can call it what we like) and sports or even more by a lifestyle. My lifestyle is the one related to extreme sports, surfing being the ultimate culmination of this state of mind.

In this lifestyle, the quest of happiness is essential.

With regards to time, we can summarize it like this: Short-term is the present moment, mid-term is in 5 minutes and the long-term is tomorrow.

To show off, to flaunt, to compare, to compete are not concepts that we consider will bring wellness to a person’s existence. Expression of our feelings, of what we sense must precede any egocentric behavior.

The ‘off the beaten path’ spirit or ‘free ride’ (free ride in English means to get by on someone else’s work (vivre sur le dos de quelq’un) or to get a ride without paying - maybe you can come up with a different expression) which is a lifestyle to me, brings a lot to this meaning. You really experience life solely for pleasure and the spirit of competitition is completely left behind).

S as soul, solo, sensible, spleen, south, surf, self, sense, sun. S like a wave that breaks to the right and to the left simultaneously.

S and the society

The relationship with the modern society that we must live together in is equally an important theme. This society is of course the fruit of a group of individuals.

But once launched, it can have an inertia, that carries the individuals that make it up in a lifestyle and behavior that don’t correspond anymore to the personal expectations of every one. And that’s the drift., Western societies are starting to experience this drift. The result is a deterioration in the relationship between individuals.

S and money

About the Elements: The relationship between the elements and money. Why is there this relationship? Because more and more access to nature requires financial means. I think here of the sport of snowboarding. Because nature is used in its entire splendor for making money. Death is a periodic reminder that Nature is above any human laws.

The objective now is to act in accordance with these moral values and thus take part in realization of the self and, in turn, the personal growth of every one.

How to communicate a message without it being taken as marketing or proselytism? And what should be communicated?

Chapter II: Fundamentals

The bliss of being is a simple state that is acquired through:

• Proper sleeping

• Proper nutrition

• Harmony between the body and the spirit

If you can follow these three rules, you will never be sick.

Regarding others:

• Respect yourself

• Respect Nature

• Respect others
